Dennis Estelle asked:
Since I can remember, I’ve been associated with car audio to one degree or another. While the auto companies have greatly enhanced their stock sound in recent years, they still cannot reach the quality provided by after market car audio and video equipment. From my experience, one topic which is invariably discussed is “what are the Best Car Subwoofers” in the marketplace. Honestly speaking, it is obvious the answer is purely subjective and determined by one’s relationship with a particular car speaker make. A subwoofer is a larger speaker designed just to reproduce those deep bass frequencies which add so much to the richness and enjoyment of virtually any kind of music.
In the real world it would be very unusual if any salesman ever recommended something other then the brand he personally sells as the best brand subwoofer. While salesmen might come in contact with many different brands, their motive for recommending any given car speaker needs to be suspect since his selling that specific subwoofer brand is his source of personal income. That is why it is refreshing to report the findings of an unofficial survey based on years of responses and suggestions from real buyers of different brands of car subwoofers. This seems like the best means of judging performance of any speaker in the real world environment. I’ve heard many times of a consumer who adored a specific subwoofer inside the show room and then hated the sound after it was installed in his vehicle.
Our survey indicates that the Kicker 12 subwoofer and the MTX subwoofer are two of the most well liked car subwoofers available. These subwoofers are favorites among serious car audio enthusiasts and even those new to the hobby of car audio.
Three more subs that remain on the favorites list are the JL audio subwoofer, the Rockford Fosgate subwoofer and the Polk Subwoofer. All the brands mentioned have long track records in sound competitions as well as producing good music sound quality overall.
To be judged among the “Best Car Subwoofers”, the subs taken into consideration must be capable of creating good sound quality when played at all power levels. Many times certain brands of car audio subwoofers will tend to lose respectable sound quality when played at higher levels. This logically would disqualify them from being evaluated the best car subwoofers.

So you are planning to buy your dream
Volkswagen Bay Window Camper but you don’t know where to start! Well, hopefully I can point you in the right direction with our guide to buying a bus.
First of all you must ask yourself why you want one, are you buying from the head or the heart! Put simply if you want something to go on trips with, that is reliable and cheap to run then you are probably reading the wrong article. Although a well maintained VW Camper or bus can be reliable they are not cheap to run. What you must understand is that these vehicles are between 25 and 50 years old (or thereabouts), and have lived long and interesting lives. They require care and attention and for that reason they will not suit someone who wants the perfect ride.
Volkswagon Campers and the author suggested that you shouldn’t consider buying one if your reason was because you thought they where cool. Well I have to say, why else would you buy one? It’s certainly not for their reliability or fuel efficiency. The reasons why I love Volkswagen Campers so much are the fact that they are cool looking, classic shape, practical to a certain degree and I love the whole culture of owning one.
Anyway back to the matter at hand! Buying a Volkswagen Bus needn’t be a nightmare as long as your head does the buying instead of your heart. I must admit that’s easier said than done. It’s all too easy to turn up see what could be your new bus, rust and all and decide there and then, even before you have looked around it that you want it and you are going to buy it. When you look around a VW bus, try to add up in your head how much all those little repairs are going to cost. Bottoms of the doors are gone! 100 quid each, one rear corner gone! 250 quid. It all adds up and you will quickly reach thousands of pounds. OK, it’s difficult to find a perfect one and most will require some work and of course you might be looking for a project to work on your spare time, but nevertheless it’s not worth paying 4-6 grand on something that is going to require another 2 or 3 spent on it. Only buy a project if it’s a good deal and you can see that it will be worth considerably more once it’s done. There is no point in throwing money away after all.
Bottoms of the cab doors, this is not a reason not to buy a bus but factor in at least

Germany can claim many things about their cars over the years. Among them are the durability, dependability, and outstanding color schemes. The 2007 Volkswagen Jetta GLI, Fahrenheit edition is among them. One of the latest upgrades in VW Sedans, the GLI has been said to give an impressive performance. With decent gas mileage and incredible space, as well as it’s incredible handling, it’s no wonder they released the 2007 Volkswagen Jetta GLI Fahrenheit edition, and so naming it the “Fahrenheit” edition. There is nothing to suggest that this limited edition car will crash and burn anytime soon.
Why settle for the standard, when you can have a limited edition? With the 2007 Volkswagen Jetta GLI Fahrenheit edition, you know that you have a limited edition, mostly because it says so on the steering wheel. And, yes, there really is a plate on the steering wheel that has the edition number, like say, number 63 of 1200. With only 1200 of this particular edition made, there are a lot of reasons to get your hands on one, and not only to say that you have something that only 1,199 other people have.
The German made sports sedan is a little over fourteen feet long and about five feet wide with approximately sixteen cubic feet of interior storage space. The “outstanding color scheme” is black on yellow. Almost completely yellow exterior and almost completely black interior, except for the stitching on the steering wheel, gear shifter, and dash board, giving a nice color contrast.
Making room in the drivers seat is easy enough. Not only do the seats adjust up and down and forward and back, but the steering wheel tilts up and down as well as telescopes in and out. Its interior height is about thirty-eight inches tall giving ample head room.
The GLI Fahrenheit boasts a 200 Horsepower turbo engine and offers a choice between the six-speed manual or the six-speed “direct shift gearbox” automatic transmission for optimal shifting. To make the driver and the front passenger comfortable while riding, the seats in the Fahrenheit are heated sports seats with height and lumbar adjustment. The back seats are divided and provide access to the trunk.
The 2007 Volkswagen Jetta GLI Fahrenheit will get, on average, between twenty-three and twenty-five miles per gallon in city driving and about thirty-two miles per gallon on the highway, according to the EPA. It comes standard with eighteen inch wheels and a sunroof as well as a six-disc remote change CD player with satellite radio optional from Monsoon and a compass just in case you get lost.
Volkswagen improved the handling by practically eliminating the tendency for the car to pull to one side during hard acceleration. It also has a traction control system that, if you lose traction and under steer, automatically shuts the acceleration off.
The GLI Fahrenheit is everything that you would want out of a German car. It can be said that there is nothing like it on the market.

Is car rental liability insurance a necessity or a waste of money?
When I first turned that magical age when I could rent a car for the first time, I was given the sales pitch about car rental liability insurance. Simply put, I was told that not getting one is not just a mistake, it’s courting accident. I was young, and impulsive, and more than just a little wet behind the ears so not only did I get CDW (collision damage waiver), I paid for double coverage, too!
I’m much wiser, now, and actually aware that the fact of the matter is, renters do not need to pay for CDW. In most cases, mind you. However, even I can’t deny there are moments when CDW comes handy… and the moment to shop for one is definitely not at the counter, when you’re holding onto your child with one hand.
So, to buy CDW or not to buy?
The answer is this: it depends. To assess if you’re one of those who need to purchase CDW, do these two steps.
1. Check your existing auto policy. Talk to your agent. More often than not, the deductibles and even the coverage on your car back home applies to the vehicle you’re renting for the day.
2. Check the coverage provided by your credit card company. If you pay for the vehicle with your credit card, talk to a representative of your card company. Coverage varies from one card to another and can carry a lot of exclusions, among them exotic and expensive vehicles. Non-U.S rentals may not be covered, as well, so it pays to check with your provider.
Finally, if you do discover that you need to pay for car rental liability insurance, be wary about who you go to for quotes or where you buy your policy from. This is when it makes the best sense to ask for quotes from reputable online sites. Most firms don’t advertise their best prices online. You can also check with state government advisories for tips on auto rental insurance. The New York State Insurance Department maintains a very comprehensive website for this purpose.

The VW Beetle is one of the worlds classic cars. It’s been around for about 70 years, and in that time has established itself as an icon amongst automobiles. And it’s still possible to find a good used VW Beetle, and personally I’d prefer a good used Beetle that’s 40 years old to a new one.
Yes the Beetle was so popular that Volkswagen reestablished production of the Beetle, and you can still buy a new Beetle today, albeit a modern version of the old classic.
Production of the Volkswagen Beetle began around 1938. The idea for the Beetle originally came from Adolf Hitler who wanted a “peoples car” produced for the masses to drive, and also to help with the post WW1 unemployment problem. So in the early 1930s Hitler started a project to build a car for every German to drive, and Volkswagen went into production. “Volkswagen” is actually the German word for “peoples car”.
The original Volkswagen Beetle was designed by Ferdinand Porshe who later became famous for the wonderful “Porshe” range of cars which are still produced today. Porsche designed a rear engined car with an air cooled flat four cylinder engine, according to some basic specifications from Hitler. Hitler expected the car to be inexpensive, so everyone could afford it, do at least 42 mpg and be able to carry 2 adults and 3 children.
Over the rest of the century the Volkswagen Beetle established itself as a classic car. Hundreds of thousands were built. The car offered reliable, cheap, simple motoring and lasted forever. It was well known to be bombproof, and there were even German promotional films shot showing the Beetle deliberately driving off the top of a steep sand dune, rolling over to the bottom and then driving off again, just to show how tough it was.
And even now it’s quite possible to buy a great used Volkswagen Beetle in good condition.
The market for good used Beetles is just as strong as ever. They are a classic car, and there are countless Volkswagen Beetle owners who have restored their Beetle to classic condition. There are car clubs based purely around VW Beetles, and the frame and the chassis is even the basis of a lot of other hand built vehicles.
For instance there are many dune buggies that are built entirely on a VW Beetle chassis.
So if you’re a car enthusiast and you’re looking for a classic car to restore, or even just one to drive around in one of the best cars ever produced, consider buying a used VW Beetle. There’s a very strong market for Beetles out there, but there is plenty of supply, and it’s quite possible to grab yourself a great used VW Beetle, restore it and be the proud owner of a classic car. I’d have a great used Beetle over a new one any day, it will turn heads much better than a new one and will hold it’s value better.
So become the owner of a second hand Volkswagen Beetle, you won’t regret it.

qadata asked:
I am working on an application and need to understand how car rental companies move their cars from one location to another when there are too many cars left by customers at one location. One way is to give dirt cheap one way rental offers to customers originating some specific location. However, I am trying to understand do they use auto transport companies to do this for them? If yes how much business auto transporters get one average from such scenarios?
Also, do car rental companies have some sort of contracts with auto transporters saying they will move rental cars always or on demand basis?
Thanks for your time!
